 Order

What kind of delivery options do you offer?

So Many Euros- Deluxe Edition can be purchased as a download file. There are no shipping costs with the download version. After your payment you will receive an e-mail containing your password for the protected download area. Make sure to create a backup of your downloaded file in order to be able to restore your installation if necessary.

What kind of payment options do you offer?

If you order a download (from Germany or from outside the EU):
Payment must be done in advance by credit transfer, by sending cash or by using PayPal (credit cards accepted!). The confirmation e-mail of your order will provide all necessary data for the transactions.

If you order a download from inside the EU (but not from Germany):
The order will be processed by share-it.com. Share-it offers a wide range of payment options. You can find more information in the
Customer Care Center.

Why do you no longer offer CD-ROMs?

Unfortunately it is no longer possible to offer shipping at a reasonable rate. It is no longer allowed to send goods by letter into foreign countries. The alternative would be to use parcels which would increase the shipping costs from 1.50 Euro to 8.89 Euro. That makes no sense.

Display of coins in the software

I picked up a coin from circulation which is marked as “sets only” in the software. How is this possible?

Unfortunately sometimes there is uncertainty about the data of some mints or the coin programme was changed. Please send a short
message, so that the data inside So Many Euros can be updated.

Why are there no coins displayed from Slovenia, Malta, Cyprus or Slovakia?

Please go to the “Settings” tab and open the “Country settings” dialog. There you can add these countries to the display.

Why are there no 2 Euro commemorative coins displayed from San Marino and the Vatican?

Please go to the “Settings” tab and deactivate the option “hide coins which were not issued for circulation”. Then these coins will also be displayed.

 Error Messages

When I start the program an error message like “Die Komponente MSCOMCTL.OCX oder eine ihrer Abhängigkeiten ist nicht richtig registriert: Eine Datei fehlt oder ist ungültig.” appears. The message might also list RICHTX32.OCX. What can I do?

There is a problem while trying to access a system library. Please first try to uninstall the SME software and then install it again. If this does not help, please try to register the library manually:
1. Make sure you have administration rights.
2. Search for the file mentioned in the error message (“mscomctl.ocx”) on your computer. You should find it in the c:\windows\system32 or a similar folder.
3. Open a DOS command prompt window. (e.g. enter cmd in the Run box of the start menu)
4. Please enter Regsvr32 "C:\windows\system32\MSCOMCTL.OCX". Please note "C:\windows\system32\MSCOMCTL.OCX" is just an example, you have to input the path in which you found the file on your computer (see step 2).
5. Hit enter. A confirmation window should appear.
6. The SME software should now be able to start successfully.

 Updates

When is the next update scheduled?

There is no constant schedule scheme for updates. Often updates are realesed shortly after new coins are available. To get informed as soon as a new update is available please join the
newsletter. See the next scheduled updates here.

What happens if new countries join the Euro area? Will there be an update?

The software is already able to handle additional countries. If a new country joins the Euro area, an update of the coin data will be released.

Do you guarantee for lifelong free updates?

No. Although this question is asked sometimes, it should be clear that no one can guarantee lifelong free updates.

Does the German help function work with Windows Vista, 7, 8 or 10?

Yes, but you need to do a installation of Microsoft´s WinHlp32.exe tool. Here is the
downloadlink for Vista and the ones for Windows 7 for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. With Windows 10 the German help is not available. The English and Spanish help is provided as a PDF file which can be used in every Windows version.

Where are my collection data saved? How can I transfer my collection from one installation to an other?

The collection data are saved in the files beginning with “sme_user” or “country_notes” in the “data” sub directory. In order to transfer the collection data please copy these files into the “data” sub directory of the target installation.
Windows Vista and Windows 7/8 users please note:
These systems may use a virtualization feature. If so, all user data will automatically stored in a user specific so called “virtual store” folder. The So Many Euros software will then search for the “sme_user” and “country_notes” files not in the “data” subfolder of the installation itself but in  the “data” subfolder of the “virtual store”.
So if you do not see the copied coin data etc. displayed in the software, please do the following: Search your drive, e.g. by using the Windows Search, for the “sme_user.dat” file. Probably you will find it in one of the “virtual store” folders. Then copy the “sme_user” and “country_notes” files from your old installation to this “virtual store” folder. Now everything should be working fine.

How do I make a backup copy of my collection data?

The easiest way is to use the “change directory” function of So Many Euros. Please follow this step by step instructions:
1. Create (if not already existing) a folder in which you want to store the backup copies. DON’T place this folder in the “program files” folder.
2. Start So Many Euros and click on “Settings” on the “So Many Euros - Deluxe Edition” tab..
3. In the settings dialog please click on “Change directory”.
4. In the change directory dialog make your self a note of the currently used folder. Then choose the folder you have created in step 1 and click on “OK”
5. In the upcoming message box click on “OK”. If there are already data files in the new folder you will have to choose the “Yes” option in this message box.
6. Again click on “Change directory” and choose the original folder you noted in step 4. Click on “OK”
7. In the upcoming message box choose “No”.
